What are you thankful for today?

Updated: Oct 13, 2020

I am so excited to write this first blog and what better topic than being thankful! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 in the King James says, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” We should always find a way to be thankful, no matter the circumstances. I like to sporadically get up and just start thanking God for all He has done for me. I thank Him for clothes, shoes, food, home, a bed to sleep in, toothpaste, deodorant, and soap so I don’t stink. You get the point! Some people believe that they don’t have anything to be thankful for, but as you can see, we all have something. Staying thankful helps keep your mind in a healthy state. It also helps to guard your heart. The opposite of being thankful is mumbling, grumbling, and complaining. If you cannot see the good, then you will only see the bad. Staying focused on the negative things of life causes people to live in depression and sadness.

Philippians 4:4-8 in the Passion Translation says, “Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One! Let gentleness be seen in every relationship, for our Lord is ever near. Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ! So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful, and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.”

Keeping your mind on the glorious works of God and praising him always helps you to remain happy and full of joy. I am truly thankful to God for choosing me for such a time as this. I am thankful to my husband for going above and beyond to help me in the ministry. Y'all, this man started a publishing company and built me a website! He is the reason I started writing. He believed what God had to say through me would bless others. Therefore, he encouraged me to write and would not leave me alone about getting things done, lol! He is my biggest encourager and supporter.

I am thankful for the motivation of my children. They also help me in all kinds of things concerning the ministry. They serve like champions with joy. I am thankful for a great pastor and church family. My pastor taught me one of my most important lessons in life: you must know what Jesus taught, said, and did for us on the cross. Knowing who I am in Christ and the power He has given me is crucial to living a victorious life! God is too good! He is just so awesome! Praise Him and thank Him for all that He has done, is doing, and will do in the future. What are you thankful for today??????
